Ashlock Hollow Forest Road Night Hike

Join Volunteer Naturalists for an evening adventure through Bernheim's remote backcountry along Ashlock Hollow Forest Road. This moderately paced, 1-mile walk on a gravel forest road takes you to a secluded prairie where light pollution is minimal—perfect for stargazing. You'll participate in a guided astronomy discussion and have the opportunity to look at stars and planets through a telescope. This guided experience gives you access to areas of the forest that are otherwise off-limits to the public. To enjoy this hike safely and comfortably, wear sturdy hiking boots or shoes with good tread; tennis shoes aren't recommended since some sections can be slippery. Hiking sticks are a smart choice. Admission is $15 for Bernheim members and $20 for non-members. You must register by 4 p.m. the day before the program by calling (502) 215-7155. Pets are not permitted on this outing. It's a wonderful way to experience nature after dark while learning about the night sky from knowledgeable guides.
