Deaf and Hard of Hearing Awareness Day 2026

The Louisville Zoo is hosting its annual Deaf and Hard of Hearing Awareness Day in partnership with Kentucky Hands & Voices. Throughout the day, American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters will be on hand at the zoo entrance, various animal habitats, keeper talks, and animal training demonstrations. This creates an accessible and welcoming environment for deaf and hard of hearing visitors to enjoy learning experiences in ASL alongside their families. Children who are deaf or hard of hearing can attend free with pre-registration, making this a great opportunity for families to explore the zoo together. Discounted tickets are available for family members and friends who want to participate. General zoo admission applies for other visitors, though current members get in at no extra charge.
