FREE History Lecture Series: Riverfront Reflections

Waterfront Park is hosting a new monthly history lecture series at PlayPort, situated near the Portland and Russell neighborhoods on the grounds of Fort-on-Shore, Jefferson County's first settlement. Led by local historian Rick Bell, each 90-minute session dives into a different aspect of Louisville's early past—from Corn Island's founding and the Louisville-Portland Canal to the 1937 Great Flood and stories of the city's waterfront transformation. You'll experience a visual presentation and have time to ask questions afterward. The series gives special focus to the Portland and Russell neighborhoods that border PlayPort. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply interested in learning more about your community's roots, these lectures celebrate the people and events that built Louisville. Best of all, admission is completely free. While registration isn't required, the organizers ask that you register in advance if possible.
