Outer Fossil Bed Hike!

Explore one of the world's most remarkable places to see ancient Devonian fossils in their natural setting. This moderately challenging hike takes you across uneven limestone ledges without shade coverage, so come prepared with a hat, enclosed shoes, and plenty of water. You'll encounter some wading during the outing—the deepest section reaches about two feet with a moderate current, so be ready to get wet. The hike runs from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and kids must be at least 12 years old to participate. Plan to arrive 15 minutes early to meet at the Observation Deck and complete a waiver before starting. The program itself is completely free, though there's a $2 parking fee.
