Sketchbook Saturday: Building Artistic Skills One Page at a Time

Sketchbook Saturday is an ongoing studio art program that helps young artists build drawing skills through regular practice and guided exploration. Each session introduces new techniques—like observation drawing, shading, composition, perspective, and color work—that build on each other over time. Your child will learn to use their sketchbook as a space for experimentation and creative growth, working at their own pace with instruction, demonstrations, and plenty of independent practice. Whether your child is just starting out or already has some experience, the program welcomes all skill levels and helps everyone develop confidence in their artistic voice. All supplies, including sketchbooks, are provided, so you just need to show up ready to create. Registration is required to participate. Children under 10 must have a parent, caregiver (age 13 or older), or guardian present who can directly supervise them throughout the session. This program works well for kids who thrive with consistent creative practice and want to see their artistic abilities grow over time.
