Sketchbook Saturday: Building Artistic Skills One Page at a Time

Sketchbook Saturday: Building Artistic Skills One Page at a Time at The Floyd County Carnegie Library Cultural Arts Center

Sketchbook Saturday is a studio-based art program where young artists develop their drawing abilities and creative thinking through regular practice. Each session builds on what came before, introducing new techniques and creative challenges as students explore observation drawing, shading, perspective, texture, color, and visual storytelling. Whether your child is just starting out or already draws regularly, this program welcomes all experience levels—beginners build solid fundamentals while more experienced artists refine their skills. Led by guided instruction and hands-on exploration, students learn to use their sketchbooks as tools for experimentation and self-expression while building artistic confidence. All sketchbooks and art supplies are provided, so you don't need to purchase materials. Registration is required to participate. The program emphasizes that artistic growth comes through consistent practice and curiosity, helping kids develop stronger technical abilities, observation skills, and their own unique artistic voice as they create a visual record of their progress over time.
